چکیده

The objective of the study was to examine feeding and drinking behaviour lactating dairy cows when they were introduced Total Mixed Ration (TMR) briquettes. Nine, Jersey x Sahiwal crossbred with an average live weight 275±33 kg in second week lactation randomly assigned three treatments a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 14-day adaptation period 14-d preliminary period. observation conducted during 7 days collection CTL: guinea grass commercial feed two TMR recipe briquettes selected from previous trial TMR1 TMR2. recorded for 2 hrs after offering at 8.00 a.m. analysed using Behavioural Observation Research Interactive Software. did not show any significant difference (p≥ 0·05) among treatments. total number occurrences CTL, TMR2 18.87±8.51, 22.67±8.51 42.60±8.51, respectively while percentage length h 65.97±4.33, 59.00±4.33 61.22±4.33%, respectively. There no except occurrences. duration 30.64±55.98, 64.73±55.98 206.26±55.98 seconds TMR2, revealed that chopped forage concentrate or mixed ration does affect but may influence their behaviour.

Performance of lactating dairy cows fed varying levels of total mixed ration and pasture.

Two, 8-week experiments, each using 30 lactating Holstein cows, were conducted to examine performance of animals offered combinations of total mixed ration (TMR) and high-quality pasture. Experiment 1 was initiated in mid October 2004 and Experiment 2 was initiated in late March 2005. Cows were assigned to either a 100% TMR diet (100:00, no access to pasture) or one of the following three formu...

Adding liquid feed to a total mixed ration reduces feed sorting behavior and improves productivity of lactating dairy cows.

This study was designed to determine the effect of adding a molasses-based liquid feed (LF) supplement to a total mixed ration (TMR) on the feed sorting behavior and production of dairy cows. Twelve lactating Holstein cows (88.2±19.5 DIM) were exposed, in a crossover design with 21-d periods, to each of 2 treatment diets: 1) control TMR and 2) control TMR with 4.1% dietary dry matter LF added. ...

Fat-Feeding Practices for Lactating Dairy Cows

Supplementing cows with fat can have several beneficial effects. It usually increases the energy density of the diet as starch or fiber is replaced with fatty acids. If milk production is increased, then feed efficiency may be improved. Less heat may be produced in the rumen during digestion of fat-supplemented diets as fatty acids are not digested in the rumen. Less heat produced during digest...

Performance of Lactating Dairy Cows Fed Yeast and Fibrolytic Enzymes

We evaluated the effect of supplementing typical dairy diets with yeast and fibrolytic enzymes on dairy cow performance. Twentyfour Holstein cows were used to evaluate the effects of yeast (Procreatin-7, a live culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and various amounts of FP800 (a fibrolytic enzyme mixture) on lactation performance. Treatments were arranged in a 4 × 2 factorial design consisting ...
